Dr. Mohamed Kamal Mohamed Mehrez Abdelhalim has over 30 years of experience in the field of Ophthalmology. He started his clinical practice in various medical centers and hospitals in his home country in 1987. In 1995, he moved to the UAE and continued his practice in large private hospitals in Abu Dhabi and Saudi Arabia.
Dr. Mohammed finished his MBBS in 1984 and his MD in Ophthalmology in 1991 at Azhar University, Egypt. He completed basic science & optics in International Council of Ophthalmology (ICO), UK in 1998. In 2008, he completed his fellowship in Phaco from Mahatma Eye Bank and Eye Hospital, India. He then completed his Phd in Ophthalmology from Al Azhar University, Egypt, and thereafter completed his fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2001.
In 1986, he started his career as a General Practitioner in Air Force Hospital, Cairo after which he worked as a Ophthalmology Resident at Giza Ophthalmology Hospital, Cairo. He joined as an Eye Specialist in Giza Ophthalmology Hospital, Cairo and thereafter joined Magrabi Medical Corporation in 1992. In 1995, he moved to the UAE and continued his practice as a Oculoplasty fellow in a private medical center in Abu Dhabi then moved to Magrabi Eye Hospital, Jeddah as Oculoplasty fellow till 2001. He had Oculoplasty fellowship with Dr. David Tse in Bascom Palmer eye institute in University of Miami Florida USA in 2002 and then came back in 2003 and joined a private hospital in Abu Dhabi as Chief Oculoplasty unit.
He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Emirates Ophthalmic Society, and Egyptian Ophthalmic Society.
